Hello Friend Newsletter in EnglishNewsletter auf Deutsch

So, you are under the impression that there are only four seasons in Germany? Well, that isn’t exactly true – in many parts of our country there is actually a fifth season: Carnival, which, depending on the region, is also called Fastnacht or Fasching. Those who experience this season here will think differently about German capriciousness and will be amazed how light-hearted and robustly the Germans can actually celebrate. Learn more about this in our article about Carnival.

Valentine’s Special Heads up! With our Valentine’s Special on the 14th and 15th of February your Valentine can save 50% on the cost of a course of up to four weeks in length! And here is how: Book a German language course in one of our institutes in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg or Munich. If your Valentine books a course with the same configuration, in other words, the location, length and type of course are all identical, he or she will receive a 50% discount on his or her booking.

Is the Carnival season a little too early for you for a language holiday in Germany? How would it be then, if you signed up for our Berlin Summer Academy, during which time you will have the chance to get to know the sights and, above all, the spectacular nightlife of the capital city? And you won’t have to worry about getting out of bed early the next morning. Your German language course won’t start until after noon – a nice, relaxing start to the day is guaranteed!

In certain cities in Germany between Fat Thursday and Ash Wednesday – in other words, between February 7th and February 13th – a state of frivolity and merriment rules. Both cities are easily reached by train from the did deutsch-institut Frankfurt – Mainz in 40 minutes and Cologne in 60. There is also a parade in Frankfurt on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Find out here where all the parties take place in and around Frankfurt.

Why Berlin?

Andreas from Cyprus: “I would like to study medicine at a German university. I graduated from prep school in Cyprus and am now preparing for the Test-DaF, which I need for entrance into the German university system. Berlin was the right choice for me – everything is possible here! The best thing is simply wandering through the city and enjoying the atmosphere, the many different plazas and the culture of the city. A true highlight for me was the Christmas market on the Kurfürstendamm (street). Typical German? Serious by day, wild by night.” Read more
