Advent Calendar | Christmas Markets | Starting Dates 2011 | 40th Anniversary | Students' Corner
Dear Friend Newsletter in EnglishNewsletter auf Deutsch

In December, one of the most beautiful times of the year begins in Germany: Christmastime. The cities are lit up in Christmas radiance, homes are festively decorated with Advent wreaths and people are nestled in together with friends and family for the holiday season. The long wait until Christmas time, until Christmas eve, is difficult, especially for little children, because it’s not until Christmas eve that all those wonderful gifts under the Christmas tree can be unwrapped.

did deutsch-institut Advent Calendar 2010Traditionally, this long period of waiting is alleviated by the Advent Calendar – a calendar that starts with the 1st of December and ends with the 24th. The Advent Calendar contains 24 little doors, each door concealing little surprises, one for each day in December.

With our own version of the Advent Calendar we would like to heighten the anticipation up to Christmas as well and have hidden special surprises behind each door: complementary weeks, price reductions, cost-free upgrades… just to name a few of the Advent gift certificates available. If you would like to benefit from a particular offer you must decide quickly, because each offer is only good on the day it is uncovered. That means in December: Discover each day what is hidden behind the door for you…

Another pleasant way to pass the time before Christmas is to wander through the many cheerfully decorated Christmas markets, enjoying the roasted almonds, tasty gingerbread and delicious Christmas cookies – another important aspect of German culture. Because the institutes in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich are centrally located, did deutsch-institut offers an ideal opportunity to learn German and simultaneously discover the most beautiful Christmas markets in the country.

did deutsch-institut wishes you a merry Christmas and a successful New Year in 2011!

Madame Tussauds

You only turn 40 once – reason enough for a special birthday celebration! Everybody that is anybody was there: Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt und Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Robbie Williams... Admittedly: The stars were already present at Madame Tussauds – our friends and partners, on the other hand, were at the ICEF Berlin Workshop. Together we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our company in the famous wax museum and experienced an unforgettable evening.

Why Berlin?

Francisco from Spain: „Today, Berlin is the unofficial capital city of Europe. Art, culture and the history of yesterday combine together here in Berlin with the trends of today like nowhere else. I especially like the spirit of the city, the people, the variety and the opportunity to find anything you are looking for. I am very satisfied with did deutsch-institut – because of the great atmosphere and because of the professionalism and personal quality of the teaching staff.” Read more
